Chelsea finally landed the Ukrainian striker in a deal worth about £30 million (16.2m KD). The 29-year-old player put pen to paper on a four-year-deal worth around £115,000 per week. That's 62,117 Kuwaiti Dinars per week and 248,471 KD per month, which means he will earn 11,926,642 KD through the four years.

On the signing Mourinho said "Today is a day when the dream became reality. Andrei has always been my first choice for Chelsea since I arrived. Before it was not possible, now it is for real. He has great qualities: ambition, discipline, tactical awareness and he is a great goalscorer."

While Shevchenko said that his wife's bitching working with Mourinho was one of the decisive factors in his decision to leave Italy.

I am going from one big club to another and joining a team of champions,” Shevchenko said.

Anyway, my hopes are that he brings nothing to the club, and the World Cup to Ukraine πŸ™‚

Did you know: That Shevchenko was in Kuwait in May 2000. Shevchenko was just signed from Dynamo Kiev(Wikipedia entry) at that time. He came for two friendly matches against the Kuwaiti national team and an Al-Arabi/Qadsia all star team. They lost against the national team 0-2 (They were paid obviously), and won 7-0 (or was it 8?) against the Arabi/Qadsia all stars who looked like 'Al-Nibras' janitors in their green/yellow uniforms. I still have the tickets of the game πŸ˜€

Yup.. what you said pretty much sums up Chelsea’s policy on buying players. They also prefer to sell on the cheap rather than sell to a rival.
