Lehmann red card awards barca title

For the second year running, an English club brought heroic defiance to the Champions League final. Arsenal showed all of Liverpool’s courage and resolve last night but, while it brought them great credit, it could not secure them the cup.

Lehmann was dismissed after he rushed out of his goal and tripped monkey Eto'o, clipping an ankle with his hand. The ball rolled to Ludovic Giuly who scored in the empty net – but referee Terje Hauge had blown for a free-kick, a yard outside the penalty area. And Arsenal's German international goalkeeper, outstanding all season, was shown the red card.

The Gunners, who played for 72 minutes with 10 men after Jens Lehmann was sent off, led tonight's Champions League final through Sol Campbell's 37th-minute header.

They hung on until the 76th minute, at times under siege from the Spanish champions. But Samuel Eto'o levelled and sub Juliano Belletti smashed in the winner, nine minutes from time as Barcelona won their first European Cup for 14 years and only their second in their history.

man i dont think when i can get over the game
i trully belive that barcelona dont deserve it
we cancelled out ronaldinho, the defense did a great job, the second goal was a fluck and there was supposed to be a fould on ljunberg which was not given and it started the whole attack.
the referee was very bad in the second half, henry was fouled numerous times, its the most time i’ve seen henry fouled in one game.
i used to like barcelona, untill all their players started talking about how good it will be to have henry in their team, that just shows u that henry is bigger than barca, and i am convinced now that he will stay, espcially after tonight, if arsenal have had won, i would have accepted him leaving, cause then, he would have done it all with arsenal.
we will be back next year, and we can only get better.

Yeah I wasn’t happy that Bercelona won. But like every summer, there’s a summer trasnfer saga that surrounds a player. An example was Seteven Gerrard and Miachael Essien. Newspapers talk nothing but them. I believe this year it would be Shevchenko and Henry. Unless of course both players end any speculations early.

That game KICKED ASS regardless who won. And yet I’m ALL-THE-WAY an Arsenal guy.
