Argentine hot property signs for Atletico

Atletico Madrid have signed hot prospect Sergio Aguero on a six-year contract. The 17-year old is believed to have cost Atletico an amount in the region of $25.75 million, which would make Aguero Atletico's most expensive player. Atletico said they had closed the deal with Independiente and that the player would be presented to the media after undergoing a medical. Aguero has made a huge impact in his first professional season, narrowly missing out on selection for Argentina's World Cup squad after coach Jose Pekerman resisted popular pressure to include him.

Diego Maradona told Spanish television station Cuatro on Monday that he believed Aguero was on a par with Barcelona's Argentine forward Lionel Messi.

'The fact that people haven't seen much of him in Europe means he hasn't got the exposure that Messi has had,' Maradona said. 'But Aguero is just as good.'

Could this mean Atletico Madrid are expecting Fernando Torres to move?

Atletico also signed Greek international fullback Georgios Seitaridis and Portuguese midfielder Costinha from Dynamo Moscow yesterday.

Saviola back to Barca and Veron back to Chelsea

Barca's on-loan Sevilla striker Javier Saviola has decided to return to Barcelona. The Argentinian international rejected a contract offer from FC Sevilla and will not be joining the club on a permanent basis. Saviola feels that the terms of the contract have not reflected his worth for FC Sevilla and the player believes that coach Juande Ramos is not keen on him to sign a new contract. Atletico Madrid, Espanyol and Villarreal have shown interest in the fast, goalscoring forward. Saviola could be used in a part exchange deal with Villarreal that includes Forlan.

Inter Milan have decided to let loan player Juan Sebastian Veron move back to Chelsea after he failed to let them know his plans. The Argentina international star has spent two seasons on loan at the San Siro and it was thought that he might extend that to a third or even sign a permanent deal with the Serie A giants. It is thought that the former Manchester United man will leave the Blues this summer and may well head back to Argentina to see out his playing days.

Madrid linked with top names

The Real Madrid presendtial elections are close, and usualy candidates use star player names for their campaings (Figo, Beckham). But this time the candidates are using manager names. Capello has already confirmed having talks with Madrid.

"It's true," Capello told the Gazzetta dello Sport when asked if he had met the Real delegation in Italy.

"They came here with Calderon, the presidential candidate, but I only listened, I did not commit myself to anyone."

Another name linked with the Madrid position is Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, but considering Henry's recent commitment to the club and his relationship with the manager, that's a far fetched possibility.

Sven-Goran Ericksson is another name mentioned, and I think he will be Real Madrid's next manager once he's finished with the world cup.

More manager talk

Martin O'Neill is expected to be appointed Middlesbrough's new manager this week, while Liverpool's Rafael Benitez is reported to have signed a contract extension till 2010.

Andy wants Toffees

Everton are on the verge of signing Crystal Palace striker Andy Johnsson for a record-breaking sum of £8.5m. Bolton, Wigan and a couple of other clubs bid for the striker, but Johnsson wants to join Everton.

The Toffees are also believed to have offered Chelsea £5m for Robert Huth.
The rest..

Maxi Lopez´s agent Dario Bombardini believes that the young Barca striker could be on his way out of Barcelona to join Villarreal, while Forlan will move the other way.

Newcastle misfit Albert Luque is being targeted by a series of Spanish clubs after launching an attack on manager Glenn Roeder. Atletico Madrid are understood to have joined UEFA Cup winners Sevilla and Real Zaragoza in monitoring his situation.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly preparing a bid to lure Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna to Highbury, as well as German young striker Lukas Podolski.

Salomon Kalou is expected to sign for Chelsea within days.

Spain international Joaquin is considering leaving Real Betis and admits he may move to the Premiership this summer. Liverpool and Chelsea are possible destinations.

Seventeen year old Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin is being linked with a move to Arsenal. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is the youngest player ever to appear in the Bundesliga and would command a fee of around ₤2million.

Arsenal are also being linked on Sunday with a shock move to re-sign Patrick Vieira just a year after his move to Juventus.

AC Milan are ready to move for Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. A Milan source told the News of the World: “Van Nistelrooy is the man we want. He is one of the few players in the world who could replace Sheva.

Young player to watch – Kerlon

Named 'The new Ronaldinho', he might look nothing like Ronaldinho, but he certainly can score free kicks like him, and he's got his own set of tricks. Kerlon is a center forward best known for his 'seal' dribble. He Swiftly flicks the ball up from the turf onto his head, then proceeds to glide past opponents, whilst bouncing the ball on top of his forehead. The speed at which he travels when doing this, coupled with his unique ability to change direction as he runs with the ball above his head, often makes bewildered opponents resort to simply pushing him over and fouling him.

"It's just a skill I have, though it's not meant to be a mark of disrespect for my opponents," he says. "Opponents say they will snap me. But this doesn’t scare me it just motivates me even more."

Although established as his trademark, the player has counteless other talents up his sleeve. Able to operate in an advanced midfield position, or as a forward, the 18-year-old is an expert dribbler and possesses wonderful ability to slip weighted passes in behind defences. He is also a free-kick expert, and given the amount of fouls the seal dribble draws, this trait is made all the more beneficial.

Kerlon has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past.
